Explore the city of Foligno and its fabulous ancient monuments.

Start your journey by admiring the Romanesque-style of Chiesa di Santa Maria Infra Portas, once called foris portam, because it is located outside the city walls.

After a short walk through the picturesque alleyways of Foligno, in the heart of the historic centre you’ll see the city’s most important square: Piazza della Repubblica. Several historic buildings face onto it, including Palazzo Trinci, with its many works of art from the era of the Signorie (governing Lordships during the Middle Ages and Renaissance), including a precious fresco by Gentile da Fabriano. Stop to look at the Cattedrale di San Feliciano, dedicated to the martyr-evangeliser of Foligno and a few metres away from the Cathedral, you can also admire the Renaissance-style building of the Oratorio della Nunziatella. Among the numerous works of art housed inside, you’ll have the amazing chance to contemplate the ‘Battesimo di Gesù’ (Baptism of Jesus’), a famous work by Perugino.
