Guided Tour of Città delle Pieve

Discover the magnificent, picturesque alleys of the native town of the famous Pietro Perugino

Why not come and see Città della Pieve with its vibrant artistic heritage and luxurious landscapes with our expert guides, who will show you the most interesting and must-see places? Discover the Oratorio di San Bartolomeo and admire the evocative fresco ‘La Crocifissione’ by Jacopo di Mino del Pellicciaio, a painting better known as ‘Il Pianto degli Angeli’ in Sienese Gothic style. Note the sad expressions of the stylized angels that surround the figure of Christ and the peculiar colours of the sky. In the main square of the village, stop to admire the Cathedral of the martyrs S. Gervasio and S. Protasio. While it is simple and sobre in style on the outside, inside its majesty and refinement are quite astonishing. Here you can also see some frescoes by Pomarancio, Perugino and other artists. You’ll also see the 16th-century Palazzo della Corgna in the historic centre of Città della Pieve and its beautiful frescoes by Pomarancio and Salvio Savini. Inside the Oratorio di Santa Maria dei Bianchi you’ll have amazing chance to see the spectacular fresco ‘L’adorazione dei Magi’ (The Adoration of the Magi) by Perugino, one of his greatest masterpieces. At the highest point of the little town you can see Rocca Perugina, with its imposing towers and the ancient Torre del Vescovo, fascinating, imposing monuments that attest to the town’s mighty and ancient heritage. Walking in the beautiful alleyways of Città della Pieve, you might even find yourself in the magical Vicolo Baciadonne, whose striking characteristic is its 50-60 cm width, considered the narrowest in Italy.
