Guided Tour of Trevi

Discover the village perched on the mountain, nestled in treasures and lush nature

Explore the beautiful village of Trevi and its awe-inspiring views over the Umbria valley. See its most interesting and important monuments and let our expert guides make your tour a fascinating and unique experience.

Walking through the pretty streets of the centre we’ll see Palazzo Comunale, admire its beautiful portico and the Torre Civica. Heading towards the highest part of the hill on which the village stands, we’ll soon see the Cattedrale di Sant’Emiliano, with its elegant apses and the altar carved in dark stone. From the valley, you’ll notice its bell tower standing out against the surrounding landscape and you’ll easily recognise it among all the monuments because it’s the tallest and most imposing building in the village. Observe the characteristic houses with their appearance recalling a bygone era and walk through the pretty,  medieval alleys. We will then stop to admire the works exhibited in Trevi’s Museo Civico located in the former Chiesa di San Francesco; here you’ll find some stunning masterpieces by Spagna, Fantino and other artists. Outside the centre of the village you’ll have the opportunity to see the Chiesa della Madonna delle Lacrime, a 15th-century shrine designed to celebrate the miracle of the tear-shedding Madonna; the church houses majestic sepulchres and numerous frescoes, including those painted by Perugino and Spagna.

A short distance from the centre of Trevi, you can relax in the marvellous nature park of Fonti del Clitunno, a place already known in antiquity for its enchanting beauty and the power to instil serenity in its visitors. You will find yourself immersed in flourishing vegetation and be able to admire the local fauna as well as the glistening reflections of light on the waters of the lake fed by the river Clitunno. We will then press on down to the valley to have a look at a precious relic of the past considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO: the Tempietto del Clitunno, a 4th-century temple dedicated to the god Giove Clitunno. Near the Benedictine abbey of Bovara, you’ll be fascinated to discover the wonderful Olivo millenario di Sant’Emiliano, (the olive tree of Sant’Emiliano), reputably 1800 years old and considered the oldest olive tree in Umbria.
