In the centre of a picturesque village in Umbria, a small craft pottery workshop opens its doors to reveal the secrets of the ancient potter’s wheel production process.

Shape the clay and create your own craft pottery on a traditional potter’s wheel in Umbria!

One of the most fascinating aspects of Umbria is undoubtedly linked to the very high level of skill achieved by its craftsmen. Pottery in Umbria boasts an ancient tradition, developing through the Etruscan era and the Middle Ages to reach the present day, and has always been the pride of regional artistic production. Thanks to the unflagging commitment of these artists, which goes far beyond a simple passion for manual skills, ancient manufacturing techniques are still kept alive today. Via this pottery workshop experience, you will be able to discover a number of them, modelling the clay to create your own pottery according to the traditional method, using a potter’s wheel.

After a brief introduction explaining the various manufacturing techniques, you will move on to your first contact with the clay. After this, you will be introduced to the potter’s wheel and all the different techniques that can be used on it. At this point you will be ready to work the clay yourself and create your own little masterpiece!

Obviously you will be assisted by a master craftsman who will be able to advise you on the various steps to be taken and give you all the explanations you want or need. What are you waiting for? Come and discover this aspect of Umbria too!
