On the banks of the Nera river, from Ferentillo to the Abbey of San Pietro in Valle

Along ancient paths, where nature has always reigned supreme

Umbria has an immense wealth and diversity of floral and plant species typically found in wet environments due to its geological history, morphological conformation and the presence of natural lakes and large river systems, of which the Nera river is also part.

On this tour we will trek through the lower part of the Valnerina area, more precisely in the area between Ferentillo and Macerano. The route winds mainly along the left bank of the Nera river and the natural habitats we’ll see are typically fluvial.

As a natural consequence of the incessant flow of the river, we will be immersed in an agricultural environment, attesting to that combination of natural landscape and cultivated land that is a typical characteristic of these areas.

The last portion of the route includes a short uphill climb; here the slight effort will be rewarded by the sight of one of the most beautiful monasteries in Valnerina: the abbey of San Pietro in Valle.
