If you want to spend a day that’s different to any other and discover the most typical and traditional flavours of the area while being surrounded by nature, this asparagus harvest walk in Umbria is just the right thing for you!

As you walk around the hills and mountains and through woods and clearings, you will surely come across numerous asparagus plants. The area is full of them! You can find them in the plains, in the upper hillside areas, practically everywhere. However, it’s not always easy to recognize them. In fact, the asparagus grows up from under the ground near the plant itself and blends in very well with the surrounding environment. Nonetheless, a careful, trained eye will be able to spot them all over the place.

One of our guides will accompany you on an easy walk to discover this precious vegetable and its fruits and will teach you to recognize them and find them in the midst of other bushes and then collect their turions (the edible part of the plant).

Everything will proceed surrounded by greenery. As soon as the harvest is sufficient for the meal, you will return to the farm where the walk started. Here you can learn about the numerous uses of asparagus in the kitchen. You will attend and participate in the preparation of the dishes and have lunch based on dishes made with the freshly-picked asparagus.
