Montefalco wine tasting
On this tour and tasting you will be able to get to know how the fine wines of the Montefalco wine area are produced. The tour of the winery, one of the most renowned in the entire Italian wine sector, will begin by exploring the issues inherent in the sustainable development of Umbrian viticulture and the great importance that the Montefalco area has assumed since the 1990s for the promotion of Sagrantino, a fine wine with a unique body and tannins that can successfully compete with the great red wines of Tuscany or Piedmont. The tasting, preceded by a guided tour of the winery, takes place in the tasting room and starts with a tasting of Grechetto Colli Martani DOC, an extraordinary expression of this autochthonous vine that achieves its full potential in these areas, with intense aromas and lengthy persistence. The second wine is a Montefalco Rosso DOC, a wine with a robust structure produced with Sangiovese, Sagrantino and Merlot grapes, aged for 12 months in Slavonian oak barrels and for 3 months in the bottle. The last wine, Sagrantino di Montefalco DOCG, is this area’s most representative wine and has very imposing, complex structure and tannins and is suitable for prolonged cellaring. It pairs perfectly with grilled meats and extra mature cheeses.
