Self-guided tour – Umbria coast to coast

This 6-day self-guided tour will enable you to discover all the different facets of Umbria, the green heart of Italy. A trek from east to west: from the lush Apennine plateaux of Colfiorito, on the border with the Marche, to the shores of Lake Trasimeno, on the border with Tuscany. Along the region’s historic paths (the Lauretana, the Way of St Francis and many others), you will cross Spello as well as Assisi, exquisite jewels set between Monte Subasio and the Umbrian Valley. You will reach the spectacular city of Perugia, to then push on towards the villages of Lake Trasimeno and its picturesque shores. Timeless villages and unique landscapes await you: the marshlands of Colfiorito and the karst plateaux of the Umbrian-Marche Apennines, the Menotre valley with its waterfalls, the slopes of mount Subasio, the limestone massifs of Perugia and the Lake Trasimeno hills.

The route, as a whole, is doable by anyone with an aptitude for trekking.
