The Lapidary Museum <\/strong>was officially inaugurated on 26 September 2009 and is located in some areas of St. Giovanni Battista <\/em>ancient convent, renowned as “Monastero delle Lucrezie<\/em>“. It is named after Lucrezia della Genga<\/em>, a noble woman from Ancona who passed a building behind the town walls on her twelve sisters, members of the Third Order of Saint Francis (Secular Franciscan Order) in 1425.\u00a0 A large number of <\/strong>lapidary ruins <\/strong>are shielded in the apse <\/strong>of the old Church dedicated to St. Giovanni<\/em> and in the two <\/strong>adjacent halls. <\/strong>The remains witness the long history of the town from the Roman Age to the Renaissance up to modern times: a collection among the most ancient ones in Umbria, after Gubbio.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
